“Wayne Large’s photography stands as a quiet revelation, a belief that every image encapsulates more than just a fleeting moment—it preserves a narrative, an intimate fragment of the human condition.”

Selin Kir: UNDERGROUND

Wayne ‘Spike’ Large started his photographic journey way back in the 70s, covering events as a Regimental Photographer in the Army. After leaving the forces, he became a freelance photographer undertaking editorial, portrait, event, social documentary and scientific assignments. He spent his spare time documenting the UK punk scene in the 70s & 80s. He then embarked on a long and successful career in clinical healthcare.

During all that time, He never put his cameras down. Becoming the default ‘camera guy’ in his day-job and working on personal projects. Now with more time on his hands, He chooses to concentrate full time on what really drives him: using his photography to tell stories that really matter.

This site is all about showcasing highlights from a huge body of work accumulated over decades, whilst constantly updating and adding old, new and contemporary work.

He has contributed to exhibitions, books, magazines, newspapers, websites and films. His work has also been featured on TV, radio, The British Culture Archive and now at Café Royal Books

Wayne is also proud to be a Steering Group Member of the Social Gallery.
